2019 Old Master
78% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon
The Old Master vineyard is a small 2.8 acre parcel planted to both Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It is named in tribute to the Renaissance Old Masters for their famed craftsmanship. These masters were painters, sculptors, architects, goldsmith and ceramicists who were revered as craftsmen, as we aspire to be with our 40 years of applied craft of wine growing.

The 2019 Old Master checks in as 78% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s another beautiful wine, offering lots of both dark cherry and currant fruits, notes of spring flowers and graphite, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and impeccable balance. I’d be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming 10-15 years.

Deep garnet-purple in color, it offers intense notes of redcurrants, black raspberries and fragrant soil, plus hints of bouquet garni and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid structure of grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long with dazzling mineral sparks.
